What a "great" start to the school holidays!

Yesterday was a definite suprise in my somewhat well-planned day. I woke up feeling my bottom drenched with my menses. It was really heavy that I know that something was amiss. However, I went to school as usual because I didn't actually feel any pain (other than some mild menstrual cramps).

After about an hour at school, I had to go home and change my baju kurung. My menses had soak through my layers of clothing! Later when I went back to school I nearly fainted. I had to ask a good friend of mine to drive me to the ER of a nearby government hospital.

The medical assistant there suspected that I had a miscarriage or an ectopic pregnancy. Those were ruled out later and I was referred to a doctor. The doctor told me that I needed to be warded and that was what suprised me most. His reason was that I had to receive an intravenous drip due to the loss of blood. I was also injected (intravenously) with tranexamic acid every eight hours in order to stop the heavy bleeding.

I was confident that I would only spent a night at the hospital. I thought there was nothing wrong with me. Other than heavy bleeding (my first episode BTW) I didn't have any fever, pain, etc. But suprisingly (again!) I was not discharge the next day and I didn't know why. I went to find the doctor that didn't want to discharge me. I was told that I need to go through an endometrial biopsy to discover the presence of cervical cancer.

Whoa!

Okay, don't panic. Biopsy is meant to discover the presence, cause and/or extent of a disease. It is also meant to ruled out any wrong diagnosis.

Anyway, I requested to be discharge and said that I will have my endometrial biopsy elsewhere (and here I am blogging *wink*). Truth to be told; I am scared. My two beautiful children were the first on my mind. I wouldn't want them to lose their ibu so early in their life. (Don't cry, don't cry).

I've scheduled an appointment with a gynaecologist at SDMC this coming Tuesday. I hope everything goes well even though I know that the procedure will be uncomfortable. The most important thing is my endometrial biopsy result. I pray that it will be something that wouldn't make me cry *sigh*.

PS: My final diagnosis written in my discharge summary was menorrhagia. See also --> Top Ten Causes of Heavy Bleeding

PSS: We're flying home tomorrow.

How could I leave my happy family...
